Are you in the mood for a hearty fish fry? If you’re searching for a satisfying protein that you can serve with French fries, rice, vegetables, and a variety of other side dishes, fish is likely to fit your needs. This is one of the most versatile proteins, and it’s not difficult to cook once you learn a few insider tips from a leading chef like Kurt Fahler. You can keep it light and healthy or go with something more rich and indulgent, depending on how the fish is cooked.
When selecting one of his best fish recipes, Kurt Fahler decided on perch. When caught in lakes and rivers, these fish are often so small that fishermen throw them back. If you don’t have the patience to wait until you catch a few of decent size, you can easily find fresh perch through any retailer with a reasonable supply of fish. The fish is low in fat and high in protein, and it will deliver hearty serving of vitamin B12, manganese and other valuable minerals.
It’s important to cook perch to the right temperature, so make sure that you have a thermometer on hand before attempting this recipe. This is a fried fish recipe, so Kurt will teach you how to properly bread the fish prior to cooking. This is important because many home cooks make a critical mistake when it comes to covering the fish with the right ingredients and in the right order.
If you’ve never cooked fresh fish at home, this is the perfect recipe to serve as your first attempt. Kurt’s instructions will help you bread and fry your fish to perfection, allowing you to avoid some of the biggest mistakes that others make when learning how to cook fish.
